As I said last week, I took all of my fry to the fish store except a baby guppy and two molly fry. A few things have happened to the guppy I kept, so I will tell you about all of it.
First of all, I named her Sherry , as a combination of Shawn and Terry, her parents. The breeder net Sherry and her molly fry roommate were inside was completely coated in algae; I could barely see them! I took a cup and scooped the pair out of their home and into a jar. The jar would be good enough to hold them while I cleaned the breeder net. Before I went to the sink to scrape off the algae, I took a look at them. Sherry has grown a lot ever since I took her siblings to the fish store! The molly has not grown so much, because mollies are slow at that. As I looked closer at Sherry, I saw a little splotch of orange on her tail fin (a.k.a the caudal fin). She is probably going to have colors a lot like her mom! Now the pair of fry are back in their clean breeder net, and are living happy and healthy.
Bill is the other molly I have kept. He is free-roaming in the 20-gallon with my adult fish. I chose him because:
I fed him peas last week. I dropped them in the tank in front of the plant he lives in. He was eating very well until mean old Dan found the peas and ate them. >:( I will have to feed Bill while the adults are distracted with their own food from now on.
I was away at camp for a couple of days, and when I came home, Sherry and Bill were so much bigger! Here are some pictures of them:
I have recently bought a... (drum roll please) L I V E P L A N T ! ! ! Well... I suppose that was not worth a drum roll. Anyway, I read all about plants and the good they do for aquariums. First of all, they consume carbon dioxide (CO2) and produce oxygen (O2). They look waaaay better than plastic plants, and they are loads more fun. They are very bright and vibrant; they really add a splash of beauty to aquariums. Mine is an Amazon Sword.
With my amazon sword and a volcano bubbler (in the background of the photo), there will be so much air in the tank!!
Fry, plants, and adults - my fishkeeping adventure is more awesome than ever!
