Before I went to bed last night, I decided to watch my fish as I always do. Shawn was chasing Terry, Terry was annoyed, and everyone else seemed tired and ready for bed. I checked on the guppy fry to see how they were doing, and there was a tetra on the other side of the breeder net the fry are in. Something seemed off about it though, and as I looked closer, and I couldn't believe my eyes:
"THERE'S A TETRA IN THE NET WITH THE BABIES!" I cried. It turns out that he was not on the other side, he was in it. With my fish-catching net in my hand, I carefully tried to chase the tetra into a place in the fry's home where I could easily scoop him out without catching the fry. It wasn't easy, but I finally caught him. Before I put him back into the big tank, I made sure there were not any fry inside the net. There were none, so I set the tetra free. I have never known any of my neon tetras to jump out of the water, but I guess they do!
